Do you need a safety inspection?

All automated gate and barrier installations must have a certificate to show that the installation is safe for use as a machine (Machinery Directive 98/37/EC).

Automated gates and barriers are required to be inspected at least annually for compliance with the Machinery Directive.  It is the responsibility of the owner of the automated gates and barriers to make sure that the automation is safe in operation, and fully functional.

Although it is recommended that automated gates and barriers are serviced annually, certain installations demand a more frequent service schedule.  If your automated gates or barriers are used more than 12 times a day ie commercial premises and apartment blocks.  It is a general rule of thumb that the installation is serviced every six months.  

Automated systems require regular maintenance and safety checks just like any other mechanical device.
